Have you ever seen a cabin situated right above a creek? Tate Finley’s story about this A-frame cabin in North Carolina is mind-blowing!
This picture recently went viral on Instagram and the whole community went crazy about how it is situated right above a creek. When we posted this image we received hundreds of direct messages, asking us about the details and the story behind this unique cabin. To be fair, we got a little overwhelmed to answer all these questions. You will not believe what we found out!
We decided to get in touch with Photographer Tate Finley, a landscape Photographer based in North Carolina. Tate Finley told us that the owner of this cabin proposed to his wife at this location. At that time there was no cabin built yet. The love story started at this beautiful spot surrounded by untouched nature.
At a later date the owner of the property decided to build a platform for him and his partner to get married on. Once they got married, the newlyweds decided to keep their memories forever under a roof. After the wedding the owner built an A-frame cabin on the platform to commemorate their love.
For those who messaged us multiple times regarding their concerns about the safety of this A-frame. We found out this information: In the event of heavy rains or storms which may lead to flooding and potential dangers whilst staying at the cabin, the foundation of the house is made of steel beams that are secured into the rock. This makes the whole cabin extremely stable if it floods. The owner is also well aware of the fact that nature is unpredictable. In fact, he did experience some flooding in the past. One time a massive boulder smashed through the siding of the A-frame. The owner just laughed about the event and repaired the damages. He is a highly skilled and talented retired engineer and doesn’t seem to be concerned about his home at all.
We have seen and heard a lot of love stories, but this story proves again that love knows no borders. Thank you for sharing this amazing story and the pictures with us Tate Finley! Happy Travels!
